KCR era was golden period for agriculture

Hyderabad: Rajya Sabha MP Vaddiraju Ravichandra has described the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao as a “golden period” for agriculture in Telangana, highlighting transformative initiatives that significantly boosted the farming sector.

Addressing party workers and farmers at a recent gathering, Ravichandra said that under KCR’s leadership, Telangana witnessed remarkable progress in irrigation, farm investment support, and rural infrastructure. He pointed to flagship schemes such as Rythu Bandhu, which provides direct financial assistance to farmers, and Rythu Bima, offering life insurance coverage to cultivators, as game changers that ensured financial stability for farming families.

The MP also credited large-scale irrigation projects like Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project for expanding cultivable land and ensuring water availability even in drought-prone regions. He said these measures led to increased crop yields and helped Telangana emerge as one of the leading states in paddy production.

Ravichandra further emphasized that uninterrupted free power supply to agriculture and timely procurement of crops at Minimum Support Price strengthened farmers’ confidence. He contrasted this with the current situation, alleging that recent policy changes have caused uncertainty among farmers.
